No one is winning!

There are no winners in this kind of war

It seems as though every televised newscast shows explosions from a distance -- exciting fireworks ... BUT! But also included in the newscast is a mention of the targets ... typically homes being crushed or apartment buildings struck! The actual casualties (on both sides of the Israel-Lebanon War) are almost always civilians.

And this is a war whose cause was the capture of two Israeli soldiers?

CBS's casualty count as of today is as follows:

Lebanon: 507 civilians, 29 members of the Lebanese army, one Palestinian and 53 "guerrillas" acknowledged dead by the Hezbollah. (Israel claims that they have killed 165 Hezbollah "fighters.")

Israel: 44 civilians (mainly from rocket attacks), 46 soldiers (members of the IDF) from actual fighting.

There are no winners in a war such as what is capturing our headlines daily.

Meanwhile, the US is doing almost nothing to instantly stop the war! An immediate ceasefire is not a surrender. It is simply a "time out" that would allow for some talking between the adversaries -- and save dozens of civilian lives.

We should support the Peace Vigils underway throughout the world.
