One fewer for breakfast this morning ...

As I filled the six kitty plates with their Special Kitty cat food, I felt the pain of that one fewer dish ... the seventh dish -- Sweetheart's.

I'm glad for that pain because it reminded me of the families in Lebanon who are sitting down to breakfast with five and six fewer places at the table -- and these weren't just cats; they were children who were buried alive at Qana and in half a dozen other nameless places in southern Lebanon ... and even in Beirut and areas north.

I can't even fathom the sadness at having last seen one of your own children lying on a gurney, hair matted with asphalt and dust, mouth filled with plaster and mud, skin bruised and bloody ... and knowing that they were alive and in absolutely inconceivable agony as the life force in his or her body dissipated in gasps and choking ... and fear and loneliness, not knowing where "mommy" or "daddy" was to help them.

I know how I felt this morning and can't imagine feeling ten thousand times worse.

Please ... let's stop the carnage NOW!!
