Bush and Putin squabble at G-8 Summit
.
The G-8 Summit is a place where the leaders of the major trading countries of the world come together to work out differences and make binding pacts that will help the world become a more peaceful place for humans, polar bears and other mammals. But within 24 hours, the US had already blocked Russia's becoming a partner in the World Trade Organization (WTO), and both President Vladimir Putin and President George Bush were wobbling and squabbling about the Middle East situation rather than working on an immediate cease fire between the Hezbollah and Israel.
Typical of their statements was Bush's saying, "The best way to stop the violence is for the Hezbollah to lay down its arms." Why not Israel too?
Putin countered with, "The use of force should be balanced." Why not "balanced" at zero violence each?
Yeesh! C'mon, guys ... why don't you both call for an immediate cease fire and threaten an economic boycott of all nations involved if they don't stop the fighting ... now?
Hopefully, the other members of the G-8 will bring to center stage the worst crisis that the world has faced since the Cuban Missile Crisis.
And after they work that little "problem" out, they could do no better than take a couple of hours to watch a presentation of An Inconvenient Truth, followed by serious discussions on the subject of Global Warming and what the leading nations in the world can do about the ever-increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

I feel honored. Blush ... I noticed the conservative bent to your links.

I will return the favor -- once I know how to put "blog links" on as a separate category, it will be done. :)
