Your prayers are being answered. My niece is fine for now, but continue praying ... God is good!

The email from my niece to her mother (see last posting or two), below, was forwarded to me and I publish it with all names and addresses ######'ed out for obvious reasons. But, you can certainly see both how all of our prayers are being answered, but get a first-hand "view" of life as it is in Lebanon today, both for the Lebanese, but for the Americans who happened to be there when this all unexpectedly broke out.

Hi, I just typed you a long email and then the computer here
lost it. Argh!

In a nutshell: we are fine and still have not seen or heard any
signs of the Israeli shelling. However, it looks like flying out
of the Beirut airport is definitely out. Not only have they
shelled the runways and the fuel depots for the planes, last
night they destroyed the beautiful new highway that runs to the
airport. What an utter shame. Anyway, we can't go to Cyprus, b/c
Israel is blockading the ports. So we are probably going to have
to fly out of Damascus Syria. We have a contact with British Air
office here so it may be a simple matter to reschedule our
flight and arrange a ride to Damascus (about 2 hours away by
car). We would take back roads, not the Beirut-Damascus highway
that Israel bombed last night. Unless the US embassy organizes
an evacuation of US Citizens by boat (they've done that in the
past, with Israel agreeing to a short cease-fire). So we'll see.

Daily life is fine . . . we're all bummed and we are all glued
to the TV. ###### and ###### are oblivious (we are shielding them
from the news, and we discuss what's going on in Arabic).

I'm in daily contact with ######. She and her family are fine, but
have left Beirut and are now in the mountains .. .where ###### and
###### have a first hand view of what's happening below. They
are scared of the big booms and the fires. How awful. ######'s two
brother in laws are trapped in Sidon (which has been cut off
from the rest of the country) but are fine.

That's it for now. Please email this to dad and call ######. I'll try to call you guys later today. - ######

"... preserve sound judgment and discernment,
do not let them out of your sight;
they will be life for you,
an ornament of grace around your neck.
Then you will go on your way in safety,
and your foot will not stumble;
when you lie down, you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
Have no fear of sudden disaster
or the rain that overtakes the wicked,
for the Lord will be your confidence
and will keep your foot from being snared.
