Mr. Bush fighting for the life of his remaining 19 months

My brother Richard in Connecticut has it exactly right this week.

He sees the Immigration Bill (dead at the moment) and the vote of "no confidence" on Alberto Gonzales (Attorney General at the moment) as serious threats to both Bush's credibility and the chance(s) of any of the Republicans to defeat any Democrat (even Dennis Kucinich, the most logical of the bunch).

He might just be right, but in my view the Immigration Bill is totally meaningless ... meaning that we will have the same actual numbers of immigrants coming into the US to help out in our time of need (for cheap labor) and the same percentage of them who will ultimately add to the diversity of our country in the years and decades ahead. And as for Alberto ... he'll be leaving his job one way or the other before the summer is out.

Mediawingnuts doesn't see what the "big deal" over the Congressional efforts is/are all about.

The real issue(s) is/are Iraq and/or Iran, and I see nothing ongoing as regards impeaching Cheney or blocking the nomination of Michael "Poseidon" Mullen as the new Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Hellfire, even President Bush called the Gonzo vote later today "meaningless" and fully expects that his popularity [sic] will win the day for some sort of limp Immigration Bill.

We need Paris Hilton back into the news.
