Does "Truckee" sound like "Lake Tahoe" to you?
I still can't imagine how 37 (that's thirty-seven!) other Ryans and their relatives managed to go to the wrong Holiday Inn Express in the wrong state (They were in California and I was in Nevada) and in a different time zone (they were only one only one hour off) -- and on the wrong side of Lake Tahoe, but after a full day of back-and-forth cell phone calls we all got together for the remaining three days of the four-day holiday.
After that, it was only a matter of my not getting lost in the maze of roads and trails, etc. wherein they rented houses (huge vacation "homes" for as many as ten persons each) and such -- on roads which required directions like "take Northwoods Drive till it goes both straight and turns left (at the same time), then turn left and take a right on Zamont, but only after you cross it for the fifth time then take a left on Baden -- that looks like a right turn, but is actually a loop through a dense forest (map above). Stop when you see a white car parked on the right side of the road."
I managed to get lost every time, and even managed to lose the car I was following back to the airport after the "relaxing" time at Lake Tahoe.
Whoopee! Vacations are "fun" -- and now I'm three days behind on these blogs as well. More on Tahoe after I've had time to love my kitties and finish off the bottle of Diazapam that I keep next to the PC for times like this.
Despite all that I pounded out above, they are the most loving amd sweet family anyone could ever wish for, when all is said and done.
