Who said the "CIA Leak Case" was dead? A 4th of July gift from the president!
How is it that the President met with the special prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald, and told the special prosecutor that he directed his Vice President to do what he could to discredit Joe Wilson (Valerie Plame's husband) and to "disclose classified information that would not only defend his administration, but also discredit Wilson" -- and 99.9% of the American people know nothing of it?
Well, Yahoo News and the National Journal both reported on it yesterday and today and it's likely to get a little play on a Blogger site or two after this posting -- and other Blogger postings, I'm sure. Who knows?
For that matter, watch for it to get wide media attention as the Admistration's "assassination" of the New York Times continues unabated (relating to its publication of the "leak" of information about the SWIFT program to track monies and other bank records since before 9/11).
What President Bush told the special prosecutor was that he indeed directed Vice President Dick Cheney to "personally lead" a broad effort to discredit Joe Wilson and his contention(s) that the White House had misrepresented information to make its case for the invasion (and subsequent occupation, I suppose) of Iraq. The National Journal's sources also stated that Bush stated that he was "unaware that Cheney had directed I. "Scooter" Libby, the VP's Chief of Staff, to covertly leak the classified information to the media instead of releasing it to the public after undergoing the formal Governmental declassification processes."
What did I post a couple of weeks ago about Cheney being "dispensable"?
The interview with Bush took place on June 24, 2004, so with the date of the interview -- and the substance of the statements relating to what Cheney was "directed to personally do" now being out in the open, so to speak, who can predict what will be published/said in the broader media (excepting Fox News, of course) over the next couple of weeks.
Who knows?
Would he?
