Let's get that minimum wage up to above the poverty line!

I was shocked to learn only this week that the minimum wage in the US has been "stuck" at $5.15 per hour for almost ten years. In that same time, Congress has given itself raises that add up to $30,000 per year and now "earn" $165,200. And it even has a "cost of living" provision that will push it up another $300 during the current session.

The current effort by the Democrats is only aimed at $7.15, but Senator Hillary Clinton wants to add an amendment that would have the minimum wage rise by whatever percentage the Congressional pay-rate rises ... each time they give themselves another raise.

I wouldn't vote for a single Senator or member of the House who doesn't stand up NOW for the least of our citizens -- and non-citizens. I don't want to sound preachy again after the last posting, about which I'm sure to hear something from my brother, Richard in Connecticut, but wasn't it Jesus who said something like, "whatsoever you do unto the least of your brothers, you do unto Me"?
