My spirits are improving ...

As if Tiger's fifth in a row earlier today wasn't enough, the Seminoles CRUSHED the Hurricanes 13-10. That is, the final score at the Orange Bowl (nice place to play the season opener) was Florida State 13 - Miami 10.

Hey, hey! About a third of my children graduated from FSU so it's a favorite with them all -- except when they play Notre Dame (occasionally) and one of my sons who went to ND (now living in Connecticut of all places with his wife and four sons) takes exception to the family cheering on the #1 team in the nation. For the record, they were listed as eleventh and Miami was twelfth prior to this evening's game.

Maybe my depression over God-knows-what will be gone by tomorrow morning. I plan to leave my XM Radio tuned to "Songs of the 50s" (Channel 5) to help make my dreams more pleasant than they've been of late.

Ciao!

This was the play -- an interception -- that snuffed Miami at the end, after a 33-yard field goal had put FSU ahead with 8 minutes or so to play

it was indeed a sweet game. when it was 10-3, all the commentators could talk about was Miami's superhuman defense. I got the impression at halftime that they all felt the game was already over.

Yes, I totally agree. It was a runaway despite the score.
