So sad, but true. The only thing I'd add to the left hand side of your equation are lax gun restrictions and a failing mental health system.
You're right! I left out one ingredient -- and I'll put it in now, the third ingredient of the tragedy in Tucson.

Although I really think it's nearly impossible to identify the "real" weirdos among the mentally ill, surely there is no need for legalizing 30 round clips for 9mm handguns such as the Glock used by the Tucson shooter. A 30 round cliup might bring out the worst in any man--remember, we are all fallen from Adam to today ...
Hmmm.. not sure I agree with the inference.
All evidence seems to indicate that talk radio and similar had no bearing on this horrible tragedy...
I would be foolish to infer that talk radio or the toxic political climate had anything "directly" to do with the tragedy, but I'm reasonably sure that the more vitriolic mouths on both sides didn't help matters.
I believe that lack of morals and too much freedom to put what ever they want on TV and trying to take GOD out of America is part of it and also lack of jobs and money to live on makes people go crazy at a time like this. We need to put a focus on the right things in life and put forgiveness of others also.
