My brother Richard in Connecticut has been "hooked" by Ron Paul!

Random Backer of Ron Paul

Ron Paul's supporters come in all sizes and colors, but they are all for small government and 100% support of the Constitution (as originally written--before such amendments as the Civil Rights Amendment or the institution of a Federal Income Tax Amendment).

Most are well-intentioned and we must pray for them along with those persons drawn to many of the other mainstream candidates--those other than the backers of Mike "I-Like-Mike" Huckabee, of course.

No, I take that back; we all need your prayers--including those of us who are trying to push a rope so as to get Mike Huckabee into the White House.

Brother Richard--such a wise man! Like you, I too was skeptical of Ron Paul at first. Then I read his book "A Foreign Policy of Freedom" (in one sitting, no less) and I realized just how on-target and timely he is with his ideas, especially on foreign policy.

Nice Blog! I enjoy reading your thoughts and comments...

I have a bit more study to do vis-a-vis Ron Paul, but some of his thoughts are a bit way out for me at this time. I certainly hope his words help us to disengage from Iraq, however, and I like his direct approach to political matters in general.

Still, Mike Huckabee is the real thing.

I do have to hand it to Mike for his creativity. Have you seen his latest commercial co-starring Chuck Norris? "My plan to secure the border? Two words: Chuck Norris!" Great commercial!

Huckabee lost me with his support for the Iraq war, his slushfund scandal, and his pro-death penalty stance even though he is a Baptist Minister.

Blaine -

I'm certainly not pleased that Huckabee supports our remaining engaged in Iraq as part of our trying to "fix it because we broke it." That was his rationale, as you might recall, when he and Ron Paul got into a squabble at an earlier debate. (You have to admit that That might be the most "rational" rationale so far expressed for our staying the course in that dreadful place.)

I too (like you, I think) oppose the death penalty, but see Huckabee as the least obnoxious among the cast of characters on the stage--both parties--with the exceptions of Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul--neither of which strike me as being "presidential" nor even slightly electable.

Blaine,

This guy, Ron Paul, is pro-life,
against the death penalty, and for
small government, no interventionist foreign policy. How could you not like the guy?

But I do like the guy--I just don't see him becoming elected to the Presidency in this or any possible future lifetime I might enjoy.

I'm jealous...I wish I had a brother that would haggle with me a little bit like the two of you do--a VERY good thing indeed!!!

On this day of Thanksgiving, I'm sure that we can all agree on one thing: we are fortunate to be living where we do.

Enjoy your day and God Bless to both of you and your families!!!

Thanks, Blaine ... and Happy T-Day to both you and bro-Richard!

Be chatting with you after the You-Tube debate on Wednesday, I'm sure.

Joe
