Adding to the complexities of my most recent posting ...
If you weren't convinced by my posting of last night, you will surely be convinced now. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez (double gasp) have agreed to create a $2 billion social investment fund. This is only the latest sign that there are ever-deepening ties between the oil-rich, anti-American states, Iran and Venezuela. Worse yet, the fund will finance such destructive efforts as the building of hospitals, automobile plants (likely competing with GM, Ford and Chrysler) and tractor factories. I like that last one. Say "tractor factories" quickly ten times in a row.
Further, both men (in their speeches when greeting one another) made statements like, "We have the potential of being among the most advanced countries in the world."
If that isn't a direct threat against the United States of America, I don't know what is.
I wonder which will happen first now ... our bombs falling on Tehran or our paratroopers dropping into Caracas. If only one of them were to begin building an aspirin factory ...

Even if Bush wanted to go to war with these countries, congress won't give him the power again. Fool me once...
Bush doesn't need Congressional approval, Serenissima; he's the "decider."

with delay wish you a happy new year. It is been long time since i used to read your blog advised by my husband but i hardly find reason to comment. Being an Iranian origin i always lived under the shadow of my countries poetical condition. You wrote about the contract between Iran and Venezuela but there were one point make me be sure it had hardly any possibility to take action. I thought it would be remain more as formality. The fact is Our president in just one year of leading made such a disaster economically that he need to make reason to make his international policy than what he done inside.( In few month till mid march) he had to offer his budget plan for newt year and he had nothing in hand. He took a great amount of dollars from financial back up which should spend for industrial and research matter, the prices grow madly up day by day. There were problem in universities ( the new movement raised inside university to criticise his policy against opposed student ) and a lot more. So you can now find out why he does every effort to create a sense of being defend by United state inside country and all the dawn problem consider as it's result. As well that now he even started to have problem with highest level of power there. That is one point that never consider in Bush policy. So i am not sure the idea of attacking my country will do any changes but make the Iranian be more closed to government and a long time war or start a new disaster like what already happened in Iraq and Afghanistan. A long period of civil war, destruction and misery for Iranian citizen
