The "Decider" has decided that we need another $245 billion (that's "b" as in "Bush") to ... ???
"Decider Exemplar," George W. Bush, will request slightly more than $100 billion to cover war operations in Iraq and Afghanistan for the rest of this year and another $145 billion for fiscal 2008 that begins on October 1. This is known as a supplemental request and isn't even considered a part of the annual US budget -- although, of course, it is. It's known unofficially as a "shadow budget".
And most likely, the US Congress will blithely go along with it while passing a number of non-binding Congressional statements geared largely towards the Presidential aspirations of a number of its members, both Democrat and Republican.
But oh yes, the administration, will provide details of its overall war spending plans at some point in the near future to try to placate guys like me who accuse the "decider" of using such a shadow budget to fund the war below the radar, so to speak. It's a good thing it's not real money; there’s not enough silver and gold in all of the galaxies in the universe to cover the national debt already.
Maybe Exxon-Mobil is expected to contribute a share of its just announced record $39 billion in profits to pay for a war ... that benefits the oil companies more than it does anyone else. The profits from the oil companies would probably pay the entire bill, if truth be known.
But who "pays" for the boys and girls who are dying there day by day, week after week and year after long year?
Remember, Shrub's not just asking for more money in what's been learned today, he also wants 30,000 more "support" troops along with the 21,500 that he has already mentioned he wants over there.
It's just one decision after another for the "decider."
